Cogno Elvio

Italy Piedmont Novello

Elvio Cogno was born in Novello in 1936 from a family of winemakers. His first work experience is however linked to the Ristorante dell'Angelo of La Morra. In fact, the wines produced by his family were consumed here. Only in the 50s, thanks to the growing fame of its wine, the restaurant was set aside in favor of viticulture and Elvio began to collaborate with the Marcarini company.

In 1961 Elvio bottled his first Barolo and he was among the first, in 1964, to decide to write on the label the name of the vineyard of origin of the grapes as a sign of awareness of the uniqueness of its product.

Today the company is managed by Nadia Cogno and Elvio Fissore. In the family they represent the fourth generation of winemakers. Their goal is to obtain wines of excellence starting from the unique terroir that distinguishes them. To do this, care and attention are dedicated to the company's 15 hectares of vineyards.

In the near future, the management of the Elvio Cogno vineyard will include organic practices, which are currently being tested.

In recent years, the company has achieved important recognitions not only in Italy but also abroad.
