Cortese Giuseppe

Italy Piedmont Barbaresco

Rabajà is certainly one of the most famous Cru in Barbaresco, thanks to its south-east exposure and to the calcareous soil it represents the best place for growing Nebbiolo.

Giuseppe Cortese's winery is one of the few owners of this wonderful vineyard and the winery itself is inwardly Rabajà Cru.

Giuseppe creates the winery in 1971 with the aim of producing great quality wines through the 8 hectars he owns.

Traditional practice, minimal interventions in vineyards, classical style, and grat finesse wines. Those are some of the distinctive traits of Giseppe Cortese.

Barbaresco Rabajà is the flag wine. The production reaches 6000 bottles per year. This wine refines in old Slavonia's barrels and then it spends 10 more months in bottle.

In the best seasons the company also produces Barbaresco Rabajà Riserva. After a first aging of 40 months in barrels, the wine, bottled, waits other 3 years. An extraordinary wine that shows incredible depth and purity from this great Cru.

From the youngest vineyards of Rabajà Cortese company produce a Langhe Nebbiolo that could be considered as a Barbaresco.

Dolcetto and Barbera are made using iron barrels while Barbera d'Alba Morassino and Langhe Chardonnay Scapulin refine in barrique.

Today the company is brillantly carried forward from Giuseppe and from his sons Pier Carlo and Tiziana; his son in low Alessandro is part of the company too.
