Germano Ettore

Italy Piedmont Serralunga d'Alba

The estate “Ettore Germano” stands on one of the most important crus of Serralunga d'Alba: the “Cerretta”. It is an ideal hill for the growth of the vine, especially as regards the side facing south / south east and that, in fact, is totally vine. The possessions of Germano are not limited to the part of the “Cerretta” on which the winery is located but they expand for a total of 6.6 hectares. It is a land on which various vines grow: Chardonnay, Barbera, Dolcetto, Nebbiolo, Riesling and native white Nascetta (to these last two varieties and dedicated an area of smaller surface).

Today the company is managed by Sergio and his wife, Elena, who control every aspect of production (vineyard and cellar) and sale.

There is no doubt that Sergio's wines have improved steadily over the last ten years. Having so many vineyards that yield red berries in the municipality of Serralunga, allows Sergio to produce characteristically powerful, muscular and intense wines, among which Barolo is the master.

The company Ettore Germano, thanks to the Crus that they own, can include among its Barolo the Lazzarito, Cerretta, Prapò and now, thanks to a legacy, also the legendary Vigna Rionda.

Although the means used in the cellar can be considered “modern” (stainless steel is widely used), it can be said that the tradition dictates the rules: short fermentations of about 12-15 days in open wood fermenters and aging in small barrels (225 liters up) of French oak whose age reaches a maximum of two years.
