Barolo Auction 2018, Monfortino 1926 sold for 4,400 euros
The annual Asta del Barolo (Barolo Auction) promoted by the Accademia del Barolo took place yesterday 6th of May at the Tempio dell’Enoturista, housed by Barolo castle.
Buyers from Singapore and Hong Kong did participate from their countries, while Professionals, collectors and journalists from all over the world directly came to the event - including people from USA, Canada, China, South Africa and Australia.
The participation of local wine enthusiasts was also great.
Giancarlo Montaldo introduced 51 lots of precious and ancient bottles (over 150) dating back to old vintages, from 1926 up to the years 2000, including some Magnum and Double-Magnum size.
Talking about products, no one has been left; the total income is over 50,000 euros.
The most expensive bottle is a Barolo Monfortino, vintage 1926 by Giacomo Conterno, making available by Vinifera; it has been assigned for 4,400 euros to a Taiwanese student of "3IC" , a new international study center on wine and food directed by Ian D'Agata, which brought together students and professionals from all over the world in Barolo.
In the same lot, a cheese wheel of Bra duro d’alpeggio, a great cheese of Piedmontese tradition, making available by Latteria Inalpi.
