About this wine
Slightly more low-key compared to the exuberant 2011 vintage, the 2012 Barolo Enrico VI adopts a bold, immediate and vertical approach. The bouquet hides little and delivers distinct tones of dark fruit, plum, tilled earth, licorice and spice. In the mouth, it offers a solid sense of structure with soft fruit flavors that wrap over the palate.
A tightly wound style, this red offers cherry, spice, tobacco and menthol flavors, with tannins that are present and dense yet ripe and supportive. Fine length. Best from 2019 through 2032. 600 cases made. — BS
The 2012 Barolo Enrico VI, from the Villero vineyard in Castiglione Falleto, is a deep, beautifully layered wine. Dark cherry, plum, new leather, menthol and licorice all flesh out effortlessly. The 2012 is rich and expansive, with striking depth and terrific overall balance. -- Antonio Galloni
A rich and generous 2012 Barolo with soft and velvety tannins, round and caressing mouthfeel and plenty of plum, chocolate and orange peel character. Wonderful length on the palate. Drink or hold.
