About this wine
An aromatic style of Barolo, laced with cherry, plum, leather and cigar aromas and flavors. This has plenty of sweet fruit, flesh and a dense matrix of tannins, echoing tobacco notes and picking up a mineral edge on the long aftertaste. Very complex and fresh. Best from 2022 through 2040.
The 2013 Barolo Prapò is the most powerful and dense of the four Schiavenza Barolos I tasted. Firm tannins enshroud a core of dark fruit as this imposing Barolo shows off its Serralunga muscle. The 2013 is a bit burly and rough around the edges, but it, too, offers quite a bit of potential.
Aromas of blackberry and tar follow through to a full body and a dense and layered palate with a wealth of fruit and spices. A solid center of fruit here. Drink in 2020.
