Casanova di Neri
Casanova di Neri (that stands for Casanova estate of the Neri family) was founded by Giovanni Neri in 1971. Man with a great vision, he understood the big potential of this territory, in the eastern part of Montalcino. Today the estate is managed by his son, Giacomo Neri, and can count on 63 hectares of vineyards in different parts of the territory of Montalcino: Fiesole, Poderuccio, Podernuovo, Le Cetine, Pietradonice, Cerretalto and Spereta.
The vines of Sangiovese used by Casanova di Neri are the result of a selection of the old vines that were grown in the first vineyard of the estate: Cerretalto. In fact, in this unique terroir over the river Asso, the old vines produced a Sangiovese that was very different from all the others. Casanova di Neri has three main focuses: the constant search for particular soils that exalt the quality and uniqueness of their wines; farming practices that respect land and wines; an attentive care in the winemaking processes. The results are wines that are an exceptional combination of soils and microclimates together with passionate and meticulous work.
Thanks to the uniqueness and heterogeneity of the soils and microclimates in the different slopes of Montalcino, Casanova di Neri produces seven wines, each with its specific peculiarities, expression of their territory, but always according to the estate’s style. The classic Brunello was the first to be produced and it is the expression of the most elegant Sangiovese of Casanova di Neri. Cerretalto and Tenuta Nuova are unique expressions of Sangiovese di Montalcino, where the terroir defies any possible categorization and classification, offering incomparable and individual characteristics that lead to wines of striking distinction.
Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova 2010 was awarded with 100 points on Wine Advocate.
Brunello di Montalcino Cerretalto 2007 was awarded with 100 points on Wine Enthusiast.
