La Morra, Piedmont
Brandini was born in the last decades in La Morra, in the hamlet of the same name which is too a Cru.
Piero Bagnasco leads the estate, along with his daughter Serena, recently graduated at the sought-after University of Gastronomic Science.
Most of the 15 hectars making up the holdings are in the community of La Morra, except a plot in Serralunga as well as the vineyard planted to Dolcetto in Montelupo.
Brandini is part of the Fontanafredda Group holdings, which is deeply committed in reachin the full environmental sustainability. Farming is organic; the company has taken part in the Vino Libero network, whose goal is to make the wine industry -and the consumers too- aware of sustainable viticulture and more genuine wine.
Winemaking is traditional, seeing only big casks in the wine maturation. The other reds in the lineup are made with the traditional local varieties; the Langhe Bianco Le Coccinelle is a blend of Arneis and Viognier showing great personality.
The Barolo Resa 56 was born by chance in 2010. A storm destroyed part of that vintage’s fruit taking the yeld to 5600 kilos per hectar. The wine was, thus, richer in texture and flavors driving the staff to make every year a wine sourced from the best low-yeld vines through all the estate.
