Provaglio d'Iseo, Franciacorta
The Franciacorta sub-region has been house to some among the most ambitious investments in the italian wine industry in the second half of the last century. The italian bubbles par excellence are born in the calcareous-gravel hills spreading south to the Iseo Lake, in the eastern side of Lombardy region.
Many local entrepreneurs have believed in this land’s potential as suited for growing Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc. They have made since big investments in building well-advanced wineries and planting vineyards according to cutting-edge farming methods.
Barone Pizzini is among the historical estates in the region, dating back in 1870. The new company who took the stewardship of the winery established in the nineties, converted the estate to organic farming. Official organic certification came in 2001, the first in Franciacorta.

Vineyards are scattered in 25 sub- plots, each one displaying a different subsoil, for a total 47 hectars.
Animante is Barone Pizzini’s flagship wine, a Chardonnay-based cuvée blessed with a perfect balance and good complexity. The Brut Rosé was awarded as Best Organic Wine at the International Wine Competition held in London in 2012; it has got an intriguing texture and notes of red berries. The Saten is silky and creamy. Naturae is the Non Dosé sourced from the highest plot, being an excellent wine to best appreciate the Franciacorta’s terroir, with its full body and savory.
