Brazzano di Cormons, Friuli Venezia Giulia
Livio Felluga can be considered the true standard-bearer of Friulian viticulture. Infact he laids the groundwork to give new life to the wine heritage in the Friuli region after the Second World War. Livio was convinced that only a high quality viticulture, carried out with innovative techniques, could have succeeded and give a new impetus to the abandoned territories. For this reason he decided to restore the old vineyards and to plant new ones.
Felluga has not only redefined Friulian viticulture but also the way of seeing Italian white wines. The company's flagship product is the white 'Terre Alte'. This blend (Tocai Friulano, Pinot Bianco and Sauvignon, and Illivio, obtained from a special selection of Pinot Bianco grapes) was first vinified in 1981 and since then has been followed by other innovative and quality creations.
The farsightedness of the oenologist is also demonstrated by the fact that Felluga has introduced the Stelvin cap among the first. He considers this solution as the best to maintain the freshness and the aromas that distinguish his wines making them immediately recognizable.
Today the estate of Livio Felluga extends over 160 hectares of hills in the Collio and Colli Orientali del Friuli, with 155 hectares of vineyards. The vineyards of the estate are located close to the borders of the province, being located both in the Colli Orientali and in Collio.
