San Barnaba

Italy Piedmont Serralunga d'Alba

Born in the heart of Serralunga d’Alba, San Barnaba is one of the most promising projects of the new Piedmont — a meeting of youthful energy, deep roots, and a clear vision for the future.

Founded only a few years ago by Roberto and Giovanni Pasquero, together with Francesco Rocca, son of Bruno Rocca of Barbaresco, San Barnaba embodies a new generation of winemakers who combine respect for tradition with the courage to interpret it through a contemporary sensibility.

Today, production remains limited and focuses on Nebbiolo, Freisa, Pelaverga, and Timorasso, sourced from carefully selected vineyards across the Langhe. The philosophy is one of purity and transparency: spontaneous fermentations using pied de cuve (though not always), and both fermentation and ageing carried out exclusively in wood and concrete.

For the Barolo, the ageing will be kept to a minimum, with the wines going directly into bottle afterwards.

The result is a style of great verticality, tension, and elegance — wines that speak softly, yet leave a lasting impression.

In the coming years, San Barnaba will release its first Barolo from the Serra (Serralunga) and Monvigliero (Verduno) crus, followed by the historic Bussia Pianpolvere vineyard with the 2025 vintage.

Though still a young project, San Barnaba already stands out for the precision and authenticity of its wines.

It is a name to remember — a winery that perfectly captures the spirit of the new Langhe: deeply rooted in the past, yet firmly looking toward the future.
