Ca di Press

"Ca’ di Press is one of the most exciting new estates I have seen in Piedmont in some time." Antonio Galloni, 2022 October

Ca' di Press is the name of the winery of the Pressenda family, wine producers for generations in Perno (Monforte d'Alba).
The Pressendas have always vinified part of their grapes without bottling the wine under their own label.

A few years ago daughters Alice and Cristina began taking an interest in the family business.
From there, Ca’ di Press was born.
Production is tiny.  Just one cask of 4,000 bottles for the 2018 Barolo, but then double that in 2019.

The tiny estate lies on a ridge in Monforte’s Perno hamlet. Elio Sandri is visible to the south, while Pira and Castiglione Falletto lie to the northwest.

The first Barolo released is the Barolo del Comune di Monforte d'Alba 2018, a wine that immediately aroused the interest of enthusiasts and insiders.

Antonio Galloni said: "A stunning debut for the Pressenda family...It's a gorgeous, deep Barolo, deep Barolo loaded with scents of dark fruits, licorice, coffee and dried herbs. As readers know, 2018 was an extremely challenging year, which makes this wines allthe more notable. Bravo!!"

And furthermore: "Readers who enjoy big, classically built Barolos will want to check out Ca’ di Press before word gets out..."

At Ca' di Press the vinification is traditional; the Barolo gets a maceration of about 20-25 days on the skins and is then aged for appr. 20 months in botte grande.
